We work with your insurance company to repair or replace any damages that have incurred due to storms, accidents, or general wear and tear from age. Navigating insurance claims can be a tricky and tedious process, so why not leave the headache to the professionals? We have existing rapport and relationships with many local insurance companies and can help work through your claim in your best interest.

Schedule an Inspection
When you notice active leaks, flipped up shingles, or an unusual amount of roof granules under your downspouts, it’s time to schedule a roof inspection. These are all indications that your roof has been either damaged from wind or hail, or that the lifespan of your shingle is coming to an end. We will inspect all aspects of your roof and gutters and if your roof is damaged, we will suggest filing a claim with your insurance company.
Filing a Claim
When damage is located on your roof, we will verify that there has been a hail or wind event (if applicable). If so, you will need to file a claim with your insurance company. You can file either via phone, online or we can file for you. Your insurance company will confirm the date of loss and what areas are damaged, and then will schedule a time for the adjuster to come out and inspect your roof.
Meeting with your Adjuster
We don’t have to meet with your adjuster, but we do highly recommend it. We are there to advocate for you, and we will hold your insurance company accountable in your best interest. We will come out and work through the inspection and navigate the policy information with your adjuster. If your insurance company approves your claim, you will then receive your scope of work, and possibly the first insurance payment (depending on your insurance company).
If your claim is denied, we can schedule a reinspection. This means that another adjuster will come out and we will inspect the roof together once again. Sometimes adjusters have conflicting opinions and a second inspection is necessary to do our due diligence.
If after all this your claim is still denied, we can create a retail quote to replace or repair your roof.
Receiving your Scope of Work
Once your claim has been approved, your adjuster will send you a “scope of work”. The scope breaks down each item that the insurance company is paying to replace, as well as the labor associated with the replacement. If we ever notice any code upgrades missing from your scope that are necessary, such as drip edge or ice and water shield, we can send a supplement to your insurance company to cover these costs. We do request that we can review the scope of work for this purpose, because we do not want your insurance company to leave you high and dry when it comes to any aspect of your roof.
Your insurance company will either mail you a check or direct deposit it via Zelle (depending on your insurance company). You’ll notice this payment will not be for the total amount listed on your scope. This is because your insurance company will split your total payment into two separate checks in order to prevent fraud. Your initial payment will be called your “actual cash value amount”, while the remaining amount is called “recoverable depreciation”. Once your project is completed you will receive that remaining payment.
There are some scenarios that can make your insurance claim process a bit different. Varying insurances will request that your initial payment be signed by your mortgage company. This is another fraud aversion tactic by your insurance company. You will need to mail the check to your mortgage company and request that they sign it before you are able to deposit the check into your bank account.
Another scenario is if you have an ACV policy. ACV stands for “Actual Cash Value”. This means that you will not receive the depreciation amount on the scope, and that your policy only pays the actual cash value amount on your claim. In these circumstances we can work with you on building a quote to go along with your initial insurance payment.
When the scope has been reviewed and everything checks out, we will then send you a contract that breaks down exactly what we are offering when replace your roof. We will replace your roof for the amount that insurance pays, and if any supplements are needed we will submit that to the insurance company and you will not be financially liable for those items.
Day of Project
On the day of your project, we will usually start bright and early! We do ask that your cars be parked on the street (if possible) and any important yard ornaments be moved, as well as fragile bushes/flowers covered. There will be thousands of nails as well as shingles coming off of your roof, and it is a messy job. Our crews work diligently to protect your landscaping and your property during this process.
With that substantial amount of material coming of your roof, occasionally there will be window screens that are damaged. We replace any damaged window screens at no cost to you. Once your project is completed, we conduct quality control checks by doing multiple nail sweeps and inspections.
Project Completion
Now that your project has been completed, we submit the paperwork, called a “Letter of Completion” to your insurance company. This letter lets your insurance company know that we have completed the project that the claim covered, and that they can now release the final payment (the depreciation amount mentioned earlier). If any supplements were needed, they will also be submitted with this letter of completion. Your insurance company will then release the final payment to you. Once we received the final payment from you, we will release your workmanship & manufacturer warranties.
